Best Free 2017 Summer Events in The Tampa Bay Area

This year, Tampa Bay is home to a number of fun and free summer events that everyone can enjoy. Let's explore all the fun! Here are seven of our favorite 100% free summertime events that you and your family may want to check out in the Tampa, Clearwater, and St. Pete areas.

Fourth Friday in Downtown Tampa

On the fourth Friday of every month from 5 to 8 pm, downtown Tampa opens all its doors. The event offers visitors a chance to tour historic sites, museums, and watch live theater for free. The offering varies from month to month, but there are always food and drink specials and live local music at various locations throughout the busy streets in Tampa.
Bike rentals are free for an hour, too, and there is no need to worry about driving with the beautiful Riverwalk right at your feet. To get a wristband for the event, just visit any of the participating locations mentioned on their website. 

Manatee Viewing Center

Sailors used to believe these gentle giants were mermaids, but we know better! Either way, you and the family can go down to the Manatee Viewing Center in Apollo Beach and watch the meandering if not majestic manatees as well as access the educational building, which has a wonderful mini-theater and stunning exhibits. There are also some nature trails and picnic areas for visitors to explore and use while they wind their way through the manatees’ habitat.

Plant City Motor Shows (Strawberry Classic Cruise-In)

Once a month, in historic downtown Plant City, there is a free car show that features stunning automobiles from all over the world and various time periods. Come out to see antiques, hotrods, customs, and classics. Admission is free for all visitors and registration is free for car owners who would like to show their style. The Strawberry Classic Cruise-In typically runs into the evenings and is held monthly all summer long, so there are plenty of opportunities to get out and see or show off some incredible vehicles. You may even find some of our Chevy dealers near St. Pete there, too. 

Yuengling Brewing Company 

Yuengling is America's oldest brewery and offers a free tour of their amazing facility and campus in North Tampa, FL. They take visitors on an hour-long guided tour through their processes and plant, which ends with a tasting in the Yuengling Biergarten, where visitors get to sample the wide variety of brews that Yuengling has to offer. What’s best is that the tours are completely free with a valid ID. They do approximately three tours a day, and they post tour times on their website so that visitors can plan out their day in advance.

Festival of Inner Peace Tampa 2017 

This incredible musical and arts events takes place in North Tampa at the University of South Florida's School of Music (Barness Recital Hall). Musicians and dancers come together to take the audience on a meditative journey. The Festival of Inner Peace is a global phenomenon and tickets are free. All you need to do is register here. The event takes place on August, 4^th, from 7:30 to 9:00 pm. If you are a music lover or interested in learning more about meditation, be sure to attend this relaxing event. 

Tampa Bay Water Ski Show Team

Every Saturday this year, the highly talented Tampa Bay Water Ski Show Team performs for free in Oldsmar, FL, just a short drive from Clearwater and Tampa Bay. There is a different theme for each weekend event, so every show is unique in its own way. This is a great free show for families, and it demonstrates what people can accomplish when they team together. 

Henry B Plant Museum 

On the first Friday of every month, from June through August, the Henry B. Plant Museum offers everyone free admission to their premises. Free treats and entertainment are provided starting at 5 pm, but there are tons of other great exhibits to catch while you tour the beautiful halls of this Tampa gallery. It’s the perfect time for families to be inquisitive together.
