Chevy Debuts Apple CarPlay & Android Auto on 14 Models

Dimmitt Chevrolet, your preferred Chevy dealer in Clearwater, proudly announces that Chevrolet will offer Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on 14 of its 2016 models, beginning with the launch of the new 2016 Chevy Cruze. That's more cars with this standard feature than any other automaker.

This latest innovation further cements Chevy's leadership in automotive technology. Chevrolet was the first automaker to offer 4G LTE WI-FI across its entire lineup, allowing users to connect up to seven wireless devices.

"Partnering with Apple and Google to offer CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility across the widest range of models in the industry is a great example of how Chevrolet continues to democratize technology that's important to our customers."

The new Apple and Android smartphone connectivity will initially integrate into the easy-to-use Chevrolet MyLink infotainment system with a 7-inch touchscreen display. Vehicles using the available 8-inch touchscreen will only get Apple CarPlay for now as Chevy works to add Android Auto to these larger MyLink screens later in the model year.

The addition of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will give Chevy owners the opportunity to directly leverage the power of their smartphones to enjoy music, messaging, navigation, and other functions via third-party apps. The phones need to plug in to the vehicle using a USB cable, which increases battery life and improves bandwidth. Once connected, users can access smartphone features via the car's touchscreen display. As an important safety feature, drivers will also be able to access a variety of hands-free, voice-activated commands.
