The 2018 Corvette: Continuing Chevy’s Legendary Legacy

When designer Harley Earl dreamed up his racy concept car and unveiled the first Corvette at GM’s Motorama in 1953, he laid the foundation for a long legacy of racing performance for America’s favorite homegrown two-seater. This year, Corvette engineers faced the incredible challenge of making the outstanding 2017 Corvette even better, following up on the previous Vette’s owner satisfaction rating of “excellent.”

The 2017 Chevy Corvette Rumbles Onto The Scene

Sixties-era purists may balk at the new 2017 Corvette, with its aggressively aerodynamic and wide body, dotted high-performance tires, and burly V8 engine. They may recoil at the sight of Chevy’s unique heads-up display, scoff at its integrated driver-mode knob, and shake their heads when presented with its customizable instrumentation cluster. These features were all but inconceivable in the sports car’s heyday, when hitting 60 mph in under eight seconds would have been equally as miraculous as discovering the Fountain of Youth.

No, your father’s Corvette it is not. And that’s a good thing—the 2017 Chevrolet Corvette is much, much better, and it’s available right now at Dimmitt Chevrolet – your preferred new and used car dealership in Clearwater, FL.

As part of the organization’s commitment to the local community, the event benefited the Suncoast Animal League, a non-profit, no-kill animal shelter located in Palm Harbor. An Adopt-A-Thon was held during the event, and 10 animals were either placed in foster care or adopted. Additionally, the BACC donated $1,500 to this worthwhile organization.

“The Bay Area Corvette Club finished another banner year with its sponsor Dimmitt Chevrolet of Clearwater, Florida,” said BACC President Andrew Domarasky. “In addition to being a social club committed to promotion and enjoyment of ‘Americas Sports Car’ through motoring events such as Corvette Show participation, Autocross, and high-speed events, BACC’s charter is to support local charities through monetary donations and promotion at its two yearly Corvette shows.”

  1. While in the design phase, the Camaro was given the internal code name “Panther,” and nearly went to market with the name. Chevy ultimately decided to continue its trend of model names beginning with “C” (like Chevelle, Corvette, and Corvair), and “Camaro” was the result.
