Tech Upgrades

Also new for 2016 is a leap in technological connectivity, thanks to Chevy's proprietary MyLink system. Utilizing a full-color 7-in. touchscreen display, MyLink syncs seamlessly with Apple CarPlay smartphone connectivity that displays content from iPhone (5 and above) devices in concert with Apple CarPlay. This content includes phone, messages, maps, music and compatible third-party apps. The system also allows hands-free voice communication via Siri.

Additionally, the Corvette comes 4G LTE Wi-Fi through OnStar® that provides wireless connectivity for up to seven mobile devices. While these improvements to the 2016 Corvette Stingray model are significant, what hasn't changed from last year's incredible award-winning car is equally important. After all, why mess with perfection?

Power To The People

Carried over from last year's model is the Corvette's imposing 6.2-liter LT1 V8, rated at an SAE-certified 455 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. Corvette ups the ante to a head-spinning 460 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque with the available performance exhaust system. This prodigious power is delivered to the pavement via a seven-speed manual transmission with Active Rev Match or a paddle-shift eight-speed, dual-clutch automatic transmission.

In Z51 trim with manual transmission, the Corvette launches from 0-60 in an otherworldly 3.8 seconds (3.7 for the automatic!). Quarter-mile elapsed times approach the 119 mph mark in a mere 12 seconds. And the Corvette's legendary suspension grips the road at a remarkable 1.03g of cornering force. The Stingray stops from 60 mph in just 107 feet, thanks to massive four-piston Brembo brakes.

Despite the remarkable power output of the Corvette's power plant, it still manages some of the best EPA-estimated fuel efficiency numbers of any high-performance sports car on the market. It delivers an EPA-estimated 17 mpg city driving and 29 mpg on the highway with the seven-speed manual transmission.
